Take a look at this project recently completed by Greg's Handy Help in March of 2026- A full shower remodel with unexpected challenges!
This bathroom was ready for a full transformation
Custom walk in shower with modern tile and upgraded finishes.
Take a look at the next set of photos to view the entire shower renovation step by step in detail- including a custom niche, modified vinyl flooring, and even a custom accent strip in their shower!
Demo Day: Out with the old! This shows the full tub and surround removal – the demolition process I encountered.
Drywall and waterproofing: Multiple coats of a waterproofing membrane and mud were applied to ensure all seams were sealed and covered. Waterproofing is essential for a durable, long-lasting and leak-proof shower.
Installation of the Wall Tile: Precision tile work was installed using a laser, and the installation of the wall tiles required several days to ensure a perfectly aligned finish throughout.
Follow along the second half below; the next steps included adding custom details, such as a custom-built niche and a custom door opening to properly fit the new shower layout. The modified vinyl flooring was then installed to complete the full transformation.
Niche Finalization and Glass Installation: Custom built niche trimmed, aligned and sealed for both function and visual detail. The glass door was installed during this step. You can also see where I had to widen the doorway entering the bathroom to ensure the washer and drier could enter the bathroom.
Floor Installation : Speciality vinyl flooring to complete the space and match the tile pattern in the shower. A seamless transition throughout.
Unexpected Challenges: During the final stages of the project, an unexpected major flood occurred within the home. This issue was unrelated to Greg’s Handy Help and outside of the original scope of work.
The flood caused minor repair needs within the newly completed bathroom and significant damage to the downstairs ceiling below.
Immediate action was taken to begin demolition of the affected areas, followed by full water mitigation and a controlled drying process that lasted approximately one week to ensure the structure was properly dried and stabilized.
Once moisture levels were confirmed safe, extensive drywall repairs were completed to restore the damaged ceiling.
Protecting the finished tile work and restoring the home properly became the priority.
Drywall installation and floating completed. This stage prepares the surface prior to sanding and texture application.
Knockdown texture was applied via spraying, followed by surface preparation for two coats of primer prior to two coats of paint.
What began as a full shower renovation turned into much more.
Custom tile installation, niche finishing, glass enclosure, flooring, demolition after an unrelated flood, water mitigation, a week long drying process, and extensive ceiling drywall repair.
Even when the unexpected happens, the job gets done right.
Another satisfied customer. Honest pricing. Fast response. Passionate craftsmanship.

I had the wonderful opportunity to build a backyard playground for a family here in Jarrell. It was a big project with multiple slides, thousands of screws, and countless wooden pieces. Every part of the build required careful attention and precision to make sure it was completely safe for the kids. I’m so excited knowing how happy and surprised they’ll be this Christmas, and it felt really good to help a family create something special that their kids can enjoy for years to come.

A customer was needing to have her door refinished and looking more up to date and inviting again.
Certainly, preparation is always a critical step to safeguard areas that do not require staining. I prioritize this process to ensure the protection of your valuables.
After a swift three-hour sanding and staining process, I completed the job efficiently, leaving her delighted with the refreshed appearance of her door.
